This has nothing to do with art...

But I was curious the input I would receive from creative minds.

I'm in an uncomfortable situation at work.

I work with a crew of six, 4 females to 2 males. Me and another doc. I work in a large organization with 64 "centers" nationwide. My current boss runs the center I work for. We have been having lots of problems with the management style and structure she has been utilizing. i.e. not leading, being lazy, not delegating properly, asking employees to lie, etc.. Pretty much things that are unethical to organizational standards. Well, me, coming from the military, I am used to just dealing with these issues because in the army you have no say being on the lower end of the pole.

Well, Another employee who was also fed up with this, decided to call our "regional" manager about the issue without saying anything to our boss about it. This started a shizzle storm. The regional has informed our vice president (which is huge) and they are both flying in tomorrow morning to interview us individually. The outcome here will probably lead to the termination of my boss. Now, I am friends with her and she is a great person outside of work and even sometimes at work. I am very uncomfortable with the whole situation because I know that changes need to be made but I also don't want anyone to be terminated. She just has no management skills and she treats us unfair. In my opinion, I feel she just needs guidance as a leader and I see potential in her. I do feel, however, that I could perform the job better based on my past experiences and management education.

So I'm kinda wondering your thoughts. How do i go into this interview and tell the truth without making it look like I want her to be fired?

Yep, you can't go wrong with the truth Justin. Is your boss going to be present during the interviews? I would guess not, so you really have nothing to lose. If she's a cool person and you want to hang out with her outside of work then that's a whole different scenario. You can still be friends with her. Just because she's a sucky boss doesn't mean she's a bad person. I would just tell the truth and let them know how you feel about her as a boss. Tell them exactly what you just said here. That's what I would do. You can always lie to her and tell her that you stuck up for her in the interview, she'd never know.

Don't say anything to management ... ever !
They all stick together like glue. You're under the impression that they're coming down to fire your boss, when in fact they'll probably can the squeaky wheel, your co-worker !
When you're being interviewed don't volunteer any opinions or solutions - that's management's job to figure out .. that's why they get the big bucks.
Anything you say is just digging a hole for yourself.
Tell'em what they want to hear (positive, feel good corporate back slapping crap) keep your head down, your nose clean and be a good drone.
What do you care ? Do you own the company ? .. no .. so go home and sleep like a baby and let somebody else do the worrying !
Management doesn't give a flying fu#@ about you .. no matter what they say - they're only interested in covering their asses !

p.s. Can you tell I'm in a union ? :lol:

I'd go with Brian here.
I think it's better to tell the truth even if that would mean losing a friend rather than lying for her and get yourself into trouble. After all, it's your colleague who tell on her...not you. Besides, she may consider you just another employee and NOT a friend. 8)
