I wrote an essay on that song last semester for a course called "North American Popular Culture."

Re: songs

hocus pokus by focus and frankenstein by edgar winters for little to no lyrics.
good lyrics would have to be razor and times like these and skin and bones by foo fighters.
lyrical genius would be have you ever felt the rain by creedence clearwater revival(ccr) :D

Re: songs

Russ, I've never really gotten into Damien Rice... a little too mellow for my ear I think. Although he is very talented, I'd give him a listen once in awhile. Here are my favourite acoustic songs (or songs played acoustic):

Matthew Good- Empty Road
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4wD2kOdWy0

Gord Downie and the Country of Miracles- The East Wind
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETUZ9Dhe_UI

Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds- Bartender
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JphjsCqsZ4Q

The Tragically Hip- Courage
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoXuPbeDe60

City and Colour- Sleeping Sickness
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xiq0IiGilXE

Godsmack- Keep Away (Acoustic version)

Re: songs

Graham,if you listen to the whole of that session then maybe you would have a different opinion (strongly advise to view),If you did then take no notice :)

Re: songs

Nope, I didn't have the time to check it out... getting ready to head to work! I'll definitely check it out later if I get a chance. I also like Jack Johnson to a certain degree, but same with him... a bit too mellow to be added to my regular rotation.

Re: songs

Hahah "Crash Into Me"... that one clearly reflects the mood I was in at the time. Other than that it's pretty similar. There is a real lack of good music coming out these days.
