Sold a Ty Cobb print

I sold my first print at Deviant Art today. It's a drawing/painting of Ty Cobb. I've had a couple other request for prints, which I turned down, since one was a copy of a photo of Natalie Portman, and the other was a conglomeration of Amy Lee photos, which are probably both Copyrighted.
In the case of Ty Cobb, the photo was taken almost a hundred years ago, and the Detroit "D" in the photo hasn't been used for almost as long, so I don't think I'll get any complaints. One thing I've seen is that a lot of people do is sell prints of their drawings done from photos taken recently of some actress, or actor. I don't have a problem with that, but I wonder if anyone ever had trouble because the photos are most likely copyrighted.

Congratulations Tom! Thats great to hear....absolutely none of my business but how much do prints sell for on DA? I'm just curious, because I see these artists in NYC making tens of thousands of dollars for works. Most of the artists that are "unknown" to the public, make close to nothing. Makes no sense.
The copyright thing is a big deal now with Shepard Fairey and his Obama portrait. I hate all this copyright stuff, but I think its something well all need to think about, especially for any gallery exhibitions or sales.

Thanks, Mark. It's really no big deal.
I only made $2.40. DA keeps the rest.
The copyright has always been a big deal, but no one seems to have the time to run down all the offenders on the internet, and the laws differ depending where you're at.
