Re: Noobish eye drawing

The shape is not quite right and there are too many lower lashes.
Otherwise I think it is a very nice attempt. Good job. :)

Try LOOKING at what you're drawing, you don't need people to tell you what is wrong!

Re: Noobish eye drawing

Hi Thazzrill,

Did you use a reference photo or a mirror to produce the drawing? If so, take a good look at the photo or your own eye in the mirror. Study carefully and see if what you see is what you've drawn. There are way too many eyelashes on the bottom eyelid, as already pointed out. Also, the eyelashes dont all point the same way like you've shown. You've drawn a thick dark line right around the eyeball where it meets the eyelids. Do you see a dark line in reality?

A little bit of time taken to study your subject matter will help considerably.

Best of luck and keep asking questions!

Re: Noobish eye drawing

Maybe the problem is that you are trying to draw what you think an eye is. Begin to recognize shapes and give values to those shapes. That's the way you'll improve your drawing skills.

Re: Noobish eye drawing

Good effort. Couple of things I'd point out are. If the eye is looking directly at you, make sure the pupil is dead centre of the iris and always use a stencil/template for the iris and pupil to ensure they are perfectly circular (again, only if the eye is looking directly at you.)
