Jim Morrison WIP FINISHED

Hey all,
been very busy but getting back into it with another drawing. Started this last night.
Is it a good idea to use a knife to pull out the highlights? i've never tried it but I think this drawing calls for it

Re: Jim Morrison WIP

not to sure bout the knife thing. but it looks as though on the right side your jawline might be a lil narrow.
outstanding start on it and the hair looks awsome so far.
best wishes

Re: Jim Morrison WIP

thanks guys for the comments. youre both right. the portion of hair directly to our left of his nose is wayyyy off, i went back and made a few changes there but still need to go back and add mid tones, i just cut out the darkest areas and the high lights for now. i should have said that lol. got a good bit done today but need natural lighting for the pic. thanks again guys, feels good to be working on a new piece.

That's some awesome Artwork Flawless..but,His face is 'pinched',you need to measure the dimensions with his chin, lips and base of nose, they have been extended.

Thanks Russ, and yeah im not too happy about the distortion. Its not the drawing, its my camera lense haha. the photos get me everytime and make me take a ruler in milimeters to the drawing to make sure its not completely out of proportion lol. but yes youre definitely correct based on the photo haha.

Very nice drawing....great contrasts in the hair. I know the camera changes things from the original drawing but I also see the face being too skinny, unless like you say it's just the camera messing things up. I have had that happen myself. :D

Re: Jim Morrison WIP FINISHED

Astrozombie- thank you!
ajcurly- yeah its the camera lol, i know its hard to believe it would change that much but i have measured all measurements down to the melimeter and it all matches up. i think its because the camera was about a foot away from the drawing when i took the photo, i usually take it further away but i wanted to get the detail, but i guess the lens also warped the image a bit.

EDIT: you can kind of tell by the edges of the paper, there are no bends in the paper in actuality, its perfectly flat on all sides but in the picture the edges look warped too.
