the unpopular cousin strikes back

I worked with an older Dutch lady a couple of summers ago and she liked to go on and on about religion. As soon as she found out about my views she dogged me about it every chance she got. Her argument against evolution is that it isn't happening any more, so it never has. She asked me, "So if evolution exists, why aren't baby monkeys being born and evolving into human adults anymore?" As soon as she said that I laughed out loud, and very hard too. She clearly had no idea what evolution is... and no amount of explaining could get her to understand. Apparently she had attended "evolution classes" at her church and that's where they taught her the monkeys turning into humans myth and many others. Of course evolution sounds highly unlikely and downright preposterous if you pervert it like that! Scary to think they want that stuff taught in schools!
