Thanks, Muskwa. The white dots on his cheek is the area where the light is reflecting off his skin, to the point it's white. I'm just finding hard to render it with a computer.
As for the highlight in his left eye, there's no way to tell how bright that should be, because we can't see what causing the reflection. I imagine the photographer may have put a something near by so there would be a reflection there so you could make out the shape of the iris, instead of being hidden by shadow.
Thanks, Jeff. I'm just having a bad time shading that area of the forehead. One problem that I created for my self is the photo reference is sepia tone, where as I doing my drawing in black and white. I changed my drawing to more closely match the reference which might tone down some of the problem areas.
