Real Digital Art vs. Faked Digital Art

There have been several discussions on here about artists "faking" digital art by taking a photograph and then just modifying it to look like they actually produced the image. I just thought it would be interesting if one or more of our esteemed digital artists posted two images, one they actually produced and one they "faked", just to see how close they come, and what faked digital art looks like. Would anyone be interested in doing this? Even just taking a picture you've already completed and then "faking" the reference picture for comparison? I'd really like to see it!

What they do is take a real photograph and then apply filters or use effects that make it look like it was a digitally created piece of artwork, when it fact it is just a digitally modified photograph.

If not for the hair I would definitely believe that was drawn. It even looks like paper texture in the shaded areas. Scary....

Here's one of my real drawings. THe point here shouldn't be if we can make it look like our drawing, but to make it look like a drawing.

Hi here is a picture that i did a while ago and a fake that i just did this minute.
I'm pleased to say its quite hard to make them look similar by faking it ... maybe if i had spent more time on it I would have made it look better but that would rather defeat the point of cheating :)

Edit: after looking at them together i realize it was a very poor attempt :) i didn't even crop it :)
but i did make it look kind of painted in less than 5 mins.

Has somebody ever questioned if that was digital? It's so smooth I could see how somebody might think it is.

Except for the eye on the faked one, it looks like a photograph. If someone claimed that as a digital drawing I would believe them, and would be amazed at their skill!

In my opinion...I think it is even more difficult to produce a faked digital artwork than to produce a real one.
Coz' you need to have tons and tons of patience to entertain questions and be convincing enough with your explanation.
People asks questions and you should be ready to answer them.
But only a faker need to worry about it.
Would it be better if we demand a screen-shot or have them post a WIP?

Here's something I've read from another forum.
I think it's a good time to bring this up.

Wow, I can't believe that guy was claiming to copy and paste pixel by pixel! As it was said dozens of times in that thread, why would you go to those lengths to produce a realistic image? I don't really see any artistic talent in copying and pasting pixels. Does this guy have a girlfriend? Maybe he needs something to take up his time other than playing with pixels.

The problem is..he said he would post a WIP many months ago but never did.

Not only that, but what would be fun in doing that? I don't see how you can add any sort of expression or emotion in copying pixel by pixel? That just sounds like utter tedium in my opinion!

I was looking through Deviant art the other day and unfortunatly i have seen quite a lot of pictures that look like that one that i have faked and posted them in a painting and airbrushing section ... I don't want to accuse anyone but either they are REALLY good or faking ... that just gets on my nerves.

Not really, though someone recently mistook it for one of my reworked in photoshop drawings.
