everything about pastel

hello, I just found this topic and I´m quite impressed with all these pastel drawings.. based on what I see here I guess this might be a right place to ask about pastels...

I´d like to know what´s the difference between soft and oil pastels and which one you guys prefer.. something about paper u need for pastel drawing ..and techniques that need to be applied to get a good result... I really know nothing about all this so I´d be glad if you helped me...either from your own experience and knowledge or maybe with some good website u would recommend to educate me in all this ... thank you. paola.
