black dogs

As all photographers of dogs know .....it is very difficult to light a black dog successfully
And the same applies to painting with pastels.
I am at the moment doing a painting of three poodles, one white (not easy to light either !) an apricot and a BLACK.
Any useful tips please.

Oh my gosh! Is this image true? He just light up a black dog? Tss. Not cool at all. but back to the topic, I totally agree that it's hard to blend with the shade of black but I don't have any idea what can help you with that! thanks anyways for sharing.
