'ello!
HEY members!
My name is Tiffany and I just happened to come across this site/forum when I originally googled 'pencil portraits' and randomly clicked Brian Duey's portrait of Linsey Lohan (not realizing it was Lindsey until i got a closer look). I feel so fortunate to come across this place, there seems to be a great variety of people here, lots of advice, and a huge amount of talent.
I've always drawn little things here and there since about age 11-ish, mainly, dresses or something in fashion. My creativity has matured quite a bit since then, though I still enjoy drawing dresses (mainly vintage wedding dresses now), but I have definitely picked up drawing portraits. Right now my works that I already have drawn were done with a good ol' #2 pencil. I was introduced to the different grades of pencils just this week because I am taking a drawing class in art next semester at my college (starting in january).
Already have I learned a lot from reading Brian's tutorials; it was then that I read something he wrote, "Don't rush yourself when drawing. It is supposed to be relaxing and mind stimulating, not a chore. 60% of drawing is patience, 30% is seeing, and 10% is ability." After I read that, I thought, nicely said, then though, oh, crap, because having patience is not my cup of tea! ha ha but I think learning to draw and drawing will help me better my sense of patience
