Hi. My name is Sonny.
Hi. My name is Sonny Denbow. I hail from St. Charles, Missouri, USA. That's just across the Misssouri river from St. Louis. I turned 50 last December. For 22 years I developed business software. I'm now a bookkeeper for a temp agency. (Can you say boring? I knew ya could.)
I've wanted to be an artist all my life. I started drawing when I was eight or nine. My first drawing was of our cat sleeping. I ran into trouble with my sixth grade art teacher when he caught me drawing Wonder Woman in class. I never had much luck with art teachers, either. I had one in eigth grade that told me I should give it up and try something else. Unfortnately, I listened to her.
Discovering the grid method a few years back changed everything. I cannot draw freehand in proper proportion to save my life. I'm also a perfectionist, which means I see every little imperfection in my artwork, whether anyone else will ever see it or not. The grid method, and forcing myself to be patient, has helped me realize my dream of creating what I hope will be beautiful artwork.
I look forward to sharing ideas and getting to know everyone. After reading several posting, I'm very excited to be here. I hope I haven't rambled on too much.
Brian, thank you so much for hosting this forum.
For those who might be interested, I do have some of my artwork posted on the net. I don't have a website yet, but I do have a blog. You can find it at . Please feel free to leave comments and constructive criticism. I have pretty thick skin and welcome your opinions.
Thanks,
